This is a three-day training for teachers in implementing values formation and education activities for children of migrants.
I. Training Objectives
At the end of the training seminar, the participants will be able to facilitate the following to the children of migrant workers:
- Discuss the work, the difficulties and sacrifices of their parents and relatives abroad;
- Express their thoughts and feelings on their physical separation with their parents;
- understand the positive and negative effects of migration to them, their families and communities;
- Cite the things that they can do as pay back for their parents’ sacrifices and how they can strengthen their families despite the absence of their parents;
- Discuss the value of saving and wise use of money, disavow the values of materialism and consumerism, and reject colonial mentality;
- Assess relationships in their families and discuss things that they can do to foster good relations and communication among family members;
- Evaluate themselves, set goals and aspirations for themselves and their families and appreciate the value of education in realizing these dreams; and
- Defend the need for equality between men and women and practice shared responsibility in the household.
II. Target Participants
The target participants of the training are children of migrants. The target participants of the training of trainers are the following:
- Guidance counselors of elementary and secondary schools
- Teachers of Values Education in public and private schools
- Social workers
- Focal persons of Migration Offices and Resource Centers

Module 3: Instilling Savings Consciousness, Disavowing Consumerism | The participants will be able to impart on the children the following: 1. Discuss the value of saving and wise use of money as one of their modest contributions to the early and eventual return of their parents from abroad; and 2. Module 4: Bridging the Gap, Fostering Good Communications and Relations | The participants will be able to impart on the children the following: 1. Module 5: Importance of Education and Goal Setting | The participants will be able to impart on the children the following: 1. Assess themselves, appreciate their experiences and express their thoughts and feelings about their own self-discovery; 2. Module 6: Gender Sensitivity Training | The participants will be able to impart on the children the following: 1. Differentiate sex and gender, sex roles and gender roles; 2.
