This is a three to four-day learning program that provides avenues for sharing and learning about best practices of national and local government units, NGOs, private sector and diaspora organizations between countries or between regions in one country.  It uses professional dialogue technique in facilitating the peer to peer learning.

Seminar Objectives

At the end of the seminar, the participants will be able to:

  1. Introduce dialogue technique in their own field of practice;
  2. Share about the best practices of other countries or other regions that they can replicate of adopt; and
  3. Forge partnership to be able to implement initiatives on migration and development.

Target Participants

The seminar is designed for the following participants:

  1. National, Provincial, city and municipal government officials
  2. Heads or key personnel of various agencies, departments and offices of provincial, city and municipal governments
  3. Members of Migration and Development Councils/Committees
  4. Heads and personnel of Migration Resource Centers
  5. Focal persons of local government units on Migration and Development
  6. Officers of associations of diaspora, families of migrants and organizations of migrant returnees
  7. Interested representatives of agencies and institutions in the academe, NGOs, church, and business communities

  Module 1: Professional Dialogue Introduction and expectation check using the process of Dialogue
Discussion of the process of peer to peer learning
  Module 2: Understanding Together Using interactive technique come up with the common understanding of the issues and challenges and gaps that the peer to peer learning intend to address      
  Module 3: Pre-Departure Phase Group Discussion of current situation, gaps and challenges, existing practice

Presentation of Best Practices on Pre-departure interventions in preparing prospective migrants and families and ensuring their rights and welfare are protected
Module 4: On-site Phase Group Discussion of current situation, gaps and challenges, existing practice

Presentation of Best Practices regarding on site interventions on diaspora engagement, empowerment, mobilizing savings and investment, on boarding and capacity building of migrants, skills training etc.
Module 5: Reintegration Group Discussion of current situation, gaps and challenges, existing practice

Presentation of Best Practices regarding on interventions of the national and local government, private sector and civil society organizations addressing reintegration preparedness form pre-departure, on-site and return phase.  This can include practices on setting up one-stop migration resource centers; village level migrant and family support program; reintegration program specially designed for domestic workers in destination country and origin province; managing crisis return; mainstreaming migration in governance and others
Module 6: Learning Integration and Forging Partnership in Implementing Initiatives Group activity: Identifying the practice that they learned and want to replicate and plans moving forward
